Liberal Lesson No. 242 - Smoke and Mirrors the Spy Game Edition

President Obama is playing spy games. With support for the nationalization of healthcare decreasing day after day the Obama administration has turned to the Democrat Handbook and settled on the smoke-and-mirrors strategy.

No amateur to the playbook, Obama and his supporters originally led off with their strongest stratagem – race wars. There were mumblings that opponents of nationalized healthcare were racist “astroturfers.” However the racist argument has proved to be laughable to just about everyone. After seeing a black man get more votes than any other Democrat candidate for President since JFK, it seems a little odd that just seven months into his first term the country is suddenly overflowing with people opposing his plans just because he is black.

With an increasing number of people mobilized against his healthcare plan and with his approval rating around 50 percent, the Obama Administration knows they need something else, something bigger, something that had worked for Democrats before. They decided that since race baiting a majority of American people wasn’t appearing to work they would go for an all out smoke and mirrors illusion so Attorney General Eric Holder announced the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate the members of the CIA involved in enhanced interrogation techniques during the Bush Administration.

This was not the first time Democrats would use foreign policy to distract from their disastrous domestic performance. On August 20, 1998 Monica Lewinsky was appearing to testify for the second time before the grand jury investigating President Bill Clinton. Clinton, whose response was to bomb Afghanistan and Sudan destroying an aspirin factory. Granted, Monica was upset about a different kind of lacking performance from Clinton’s “executive branch.” Months late as the House of Representatives was planning to impeach Clinton he ordered major airstrikes in against Iraq. This is even more shocking when you consider that by this time in Clinton’s presidency the World Trade Center had been bombed (five people killed), 18 American troops were killed in Somalia, a car bomb in Saudi Arabia killed five Americans, an Air Force housing complex in Saudi Arabia was bomber and the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed. Clinton responded to all of these situations with a mix of silence, retreat and empty threats. The only time he took action was when his presidency was at risk domestically.

The investigation into officials from the Bush administration for the use of “enhanced interrogation techniques” is simply a diversion being put up so that the Democrats can regroup and redirect focus from their failing healthcare debacle. By dredging up CIA indictments the Obama team hopes to distract not only the people who are outraged over the proposed healthcare reforms and the Republicans in Congress but also the leftists in the Democrat party who have been screaming for George Bush’s head on a platter since January 21, 2001.

Allowing the investigation into CIA interrogation techniques, with indictments almost sure to follow, sets one of the most dangerous precedents in American history. By allowing the investigation of the CIA for purely political reasons (it can’t be for moral reasons since Obama has reserved the right to order the use of the exact same interrogation techniques the special prosecutor will be investigating) the Obama administration is putting America at risk. Not only will the information allow American’s enemies to better prepare themselves for captivity, it will serve as a gold mine for the rampant propaganda used to recruit terrorists against America worldwide. With this investigation Democrats may finally have succeed in setting a precedent that will one day be responsible for more American deaths than Roe v. Wade.

Meet David K. Kyle

David Kyle is the director of Blood Money (see below).

Check out his blog The Candid Truth HERE.

Here is part of last week's interview with LifeSiteNews.com:

The movie, which is currently in post-production and will hopefully be complete by the end of September, hopes to get people talking about the issue of abortion. Kyle says, "It's one of those issues that even the pro-choice side really doesn't want to talk about."

Kyle says they hope the movie will inform people about the business aspect of abortion and the effect that abortion has on women.

"People are making millions upon millions of dollars off the murdering of innocent babies," he said.

"Abortion has consequences to it. It's sold as a quick fix when you're in trouble. You can go and have an abortion and the problem goes away. Well, we know from countless women that the problem does not go away. Women have long term consequences that they are going to have to deal with for years and years."

From March 17, 2008
Margaret Sanger was, ironically, the proverbial mother of Planned Parenthood. She stood as the honorary chairman at the organization's founding. In 1917 she was jailed for handing out contraception. After abandoning her husband and three children Sanger turned her attention to ensuring that those she saw as "unfit" were not allowed to procreate. Among those who were deemed unfit by Sanger were immigrants or as she put it "human weeds," whom she saw as lowering the nation's IQ and its strength. Sanger worried that the "increasing race of morons" who had already immigrated to America had damaged the United States significantly. Sanger was an all-out advocate of eugenics. She saw Jews and Italians as filling the insane asylums, the hospitals and other institutions for the feeble minded, as she once told the New York State Assembly. She went as far as to propose and advocate a five-year moratorium on birth in the United States ...

Today Sanger's tradition is carried on by those who push for abortion at any time and for any reason. With the increases in medical technology that allow birth defects and diseases to be diagnosed prenatally, Sanger's attempts to engineer a society purged of undesirables may just be close to reality.

These passive assumptions that abortion is fundamental to society and to women are incredibly alarming. I've never heard of such a fundamental right that people refuse to call by its name. One of the leading organizations that advocates the protection of "abortion rights" in America and the preservation of Roe v. Wade is NARAL Pro-Choice America. The acronym NARAL stands for the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League. Today, you won't find that acronym spelled out anywhere on the organizations Web site. To organizations like NARAL, pregnant women go and get a procedure to make their pregnancy go away. Gloria Steinem characterized the feminists pro-abortion policy positions seeking to "elevate reproductive freedom to a universal right at least as basic as freedom of speech or assembly" as modern feminists' contribution to society. I have never seen anyone who has needed therapy and counseling after exercising their right to free speech. Free speech advocates also don't attempt to disguise their defenses of what they are arguing for. If you support free speech you support it in all cases and you say that. Feminists refuse to talk about abortion except to bring in the issue of incest and rape.

From February 25, 2008

For the left, which apparently sees women as second-class citizens, the choice of abortion is essential to guaranteeing woman's equality in society. Despite this however, they still claim that no one is pro-abortion, that no one wants abortions. There is an inherent flaw in an argument when one is not willing to say they are not pro-whatever it is you support. While the politically savvy say that abortion should never be taken lightly and an ideal place is one where abortions would not have to occur their leading theorists and supporters of abortion betray them. Prominent feminist and pro-abortion thinker and author Gloria Steinem refers to abortion as a woman's "reproductive veto power." There is another option other than vetoing the life of a baby - it's called keeping your legs closed.

From February 23, 2006

D&X abortions have earned the name partial-birth abortions because the procedure is almost identical to the procedure used to deliver a breeched baby (a baby who is born feet first rather than head first). In the D&X procedure the doctor partially removes the fetus, intact, until just the head remains inside the mother. The abortionist then inserts scissors into the back of the half delivered baby's head forcing them into the skull. Following this a suction catheter is inserted into the fetus and the contents of its skull are sucked out.

D&E abortions are even more graphic, and pose a greater threat to the health of the mother. In a D&E abortion fetal body parts are grasped, at random, with a long toothed clamp. They are then pulled from the fetus (yes, ripped off the body of the fetus), and removed from the vaginal canal. The remaining parts are subsequently removed from the mother until only the skull remains. The skull is then crushed and pulled out. Finally, the placenta is sucked out of the uterus. I don't think you have to be Republican to find that horrifying. Nor Pro-Life, nor Christian. I think you just have to be human. Regardless of the legality of abortion, can we all at least agree on that? What if I told you that the fetus can feel the entire procedure as it is being carried out? In fact section 2, article 13 (m) of the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act states that "The vast majority of babies killed during partial-birth abortions are alive until the end of the procedure. It is a medical fact, however, that unborn infants at this stage can feel pain when subjected to painful stimuli and that their perception of this pain is even more intense than that of newborn infants and older children when subjected to the same stimuli. Thus, during a partial-birth abortion procedure, the child will fully experience the pain associated with piercing his or her skull and sucking out his or her brain."

Karl Rove Sticks it in the Eye of Conyers, NYT

Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Karl Rove talks about why Rep. John Conyers, the New York Times and the Washington Post owe him an apology for the countless allegations that Rove was behind the firing of Attorneys during the Bush Administration.

"Judging from the evidence released, it uncovered facts that show that my role in the U.S. attorneys issue was minimal and entirely proper. I did not conceive of the idea of removing certain U.S. attorneys, did not select those to be removed, and did not see the lists of U.S. attorneys Justice was considering to replace. I had no idea who was on the final list until Justice sent it to the White House in November 2006. No fair-minded person can review the thousands of pages of documents and testimony and conclude that I drove the process."
